- The scheme was launched in the year 2013.
- The primary objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to patients facing severe financial hardship while undergoing treatment for exceptional and rare diseases.
- The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Assam is the nodal department for implementation of the scheme.
- Financial assistance of up to ₹3,00,000 is provided to eligible beneficiaries.
- Assistance under the scheme is provided in the form of reimbursement of treatment costs.
- Serious diseases requiring surgery, implants, or critical medical intervention are covered under the scheme.

- Families having a serving or retired government employee are not eligible under the Arogya Nidhi Scheme.

Eligibility Conditions of Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme
- The beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Assam.
- The annual family income of the beneficiary should not exceed ₹5,00,000.
- Beneficiaries of all age groups are eligible under the scheme.
- Treatment must be taken only at the following hospitals:
- Government hospitals
- Government medical colleges
- Government-aided medical institutions
- Government-empanelled hospitals
- Reputed private hospitals
- There should be no serving or retired government employee or pensioner in the beneficiary’s family.

Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme is through an
offline application process.

- Fill the application form carefully and attach all required documents.
- Submit the completed application form along with documents to any of the following offices:
- Assam National Health Mission Office
- Office of the Joint Director, District Health Services
- The applications are scrutinized by an Expert Committee of Doctors at Guwahati Medical College.
- The committee recommends eligible cases for financial assistance.
- After final approval, the sanctioned amount under the Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
