The Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme is a major healthcare welfare scheme of the Government of Assam.

  • The scheme was launched in the year 2013.
  • The primary objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to patients facing severe financial hardship while undergoing treatment for exceptional and rare diseases.
  • The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Assam is the nodal department for implementation of the scheme.
  • Financial assistance of up to ₹3,00,000 is provided to eligible beneficiaries.
  • Assistance under the scheme is provided in the form of reimbursement of treatment costs.
  • Serious diseases requiring surgery, implants, or critical medical intervention are covered under the scheme.
  • Treatment costs arising from serious accident cases are also covered.
  • Reimbursement is admissible if treatment is taken at Government-run, Government-aided, empanelled hospitals or reputed private hospitals.

      • Industrial accidents
      • Farm accidents
      • Road accidents
      • Rail accidents
      • Bomb blasts and similar incidents
  • The annual family income of the patient should not exceed ₹5,00,000.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age limit under the scheme.
  • Families having a serving or retired government employee are not eligible under the Arogya Nidhi Scheme.

  • For general medical cases, residents of Assam can avail benefits under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan (AAA) .

Eligibility Conditions of Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme

  • The beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • The annual family income of the beneficiary should not exceed ₹5,00,000.
  • Beneficiaries of all age groups are eligible under the scheme.
  • Treatment must be taken only at the following hospitals:
    • Government hospitals
    • Government medical colleges
    • Government-aided medical institutions
    • Government-empanelled hospitals
    • Reputed private hospitals
  • There should be no serving or retired government employee or pensioner in the beneficiary’s family.

  • Recent photograph of the patient
  • Family income certificate
  • Any one identity proof:
    • Voter ID card
    • Aadhaar card
    • Driving licence
  • Original vouchers, bills, and receipts
  • Copy of doctor’s prescription
  • Hospital discharge slip
  • Bank account details of the beneficiary
  • Copy of the following card(s), if applicable:
    • Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)
    • Atal Amrit Abhiyan (AAA)

Application process of Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme

The only way to avail benefits under the
Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme is through an
offline application process.

  1. The offline application form can be downloaded from the links below:
  2. Fill the application form carefully and attach all required documents.
  3. Submit the completed application form along with documents to any of the following offices:
    • Assam National Health Mission Office
    • Office of the Joint Director, District Health Services
  4. The applications are scrutinized by an Expert Committee of Doctors at Guwahati Medical College.
  5. The committee recommends eligible cases for financial assistance.
  6. After final approval, the sanctioned amount under the Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
